Traditional Style Aboriginal Family - 6 pieces - Fair Trade

This stylised Aboriginal family set is made under Fair Trade conditions. It features an extended family grouping which included Elders and children. The set features soft-bodied block play dolls in a stylised version of traditional Aboriginal clothing. The largest of the people measure 8cm high. They are all made from cotton. Excellent for role play as well as sparking discussions on Aboriginal and Australian history. All pieces are made by hand. The design and colours may vary with this beautiful Aboriginal family set.

This Fair Trade organization was founded in Kolkata, West Bengal, India in 2003. Today over 150 local families are involved. The talented artisans hand make a diverse range of products, specialising in educational resources. This organisation provides the local workers with a sustainable income, and all the ethics of fair trade are maintained. This organisation also provides and emergency fund for the workers in time of need such as a medical emergency for the artisan or family member, funds are readily available so they can seek immediate assistance. They have also built a school in Asansol, west of Kolkata. Suitable for children from the age of 3 years.
